I have visited Rome 3 times and this time I got it right! After reading the glowing reviews, I stayed at Di Rienzo Pantheon Palace. I have preferred to stay near the Pantheon as I enjoy the energy there, and this wonderful boutique hotel is located just around the corner from Piazza della Rotonda.

The Mickey RoomWhen I arrived I was greeted by the manager, Salvo Pennisi who is full of personality and always willing to help. When he took me upstairs to my room, I felt like I was in a lovely villa. My room (the “Micky” Room – named after Michele Di Rienzo) was spacious, with a large beautiful Carrera marble bathroom, and lovely furnishings. Salvo takes great pride in the property and making sure the guests are well cared for.

The residence which is now a lovely boutique hotel, has been in the Di Rienzo since 2012. The family also owns two other restaurants in the Piazza and a lovely store “The Place” with beautiful leather items, run by Paola, who lovely and very helpful.

It is hard to believe as you pass through a beautiful wooden door facing the street, that such a lovely comfortable experience is waiting to be had, and it was always a pleasure in the morning to see Salvo’s smiling face!

During this trip, I had been in Italy for one month and had been in 8 different hotels. Rome was my last stop, and the Di Rienzo Pantheon Palace by far had the most comfortable bed and best hair dryer! The property also has a lovely rooftop terrace! The location is wonderful; you are near everything: Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Castel Sant’Angelo and much more!

The Piazza, full of history, is always busting with visitors to the Pantheon, The Fontana del Pantheon, and the many restaurants and shops surrounding it. The taxi ride from Roma Termini is less than 8 Euros, and it is located on a side street off of Via Della Dogana Vecchia, which has hair salon (Parrucciere) and a wonderful restaurant called Casa Bleve!

The head of the family, Michele Di Rienzo, who just passed away, always enjoyed being near his beloved Ristorante Di Rienzo and had many wonderful stories of the famous people who frequented his ristorante since 1952. From the ristorante you can view all that goes on in the piazza and often hear the musicians who come to perform there. Salvo is dedicated to keeping the Michele’s memory alive and providing the Di Rienzo family hospitality to all that frequent the Di Rienzo Pantheon Palace, ristoranti, and shops.

When you are ready to leave Rome and Di Rienzo Pantheon Palace, and you take the customary “good-bye selfie” with Salvo you just know that it isn’t good-bye forever, it is good-bye until next time!

If you are looking for a small boutique hotel with personalized attention in a lovely setting and great location, I would recommend Di Rienzo Pantheon Palace!
